*The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive on Thursday, June 30th from 12pm-5pm at American National University in Princeton. ANU is located at 421 Hilltop Drive. For additional information or to pre-register contact Mary Pritt at 304-431-1613 or mjpritt@an.edu.

*First Christian Church of Bluefield, West Virginia, will host its Fifth Annual Celebrate America Concert, Thursday, June 30th at 7pm. The concert is open and free to the public and will include a free hot dog supper before the concert at 5:30pm in Bethany Hall in the lower level of the church. The Celebrate America Concert will feature musicians Donald Kensinger, Suzanne Lowry, Harold Brown, and the First Christian Church Chancel Choir, along with other guest musicians from the area. The music will include a variety of well-loved patriotic favorites. In additioan, military service men and women will be honored during the program. First Christian Church is located at 2200 Bland Road in Bluefield, West Virginia. Come celebrate America and bring your family and friends.

The Shady Spring High School Football Team will be accepting donations for flood victims in Richwood on Thursday, June 30th at the rear entrance of the football stadium at Shady Spring High School from 10am-12pm and then we will be going to Little General in Beaver right next to McDonald's from 12:30pm-4pm all donations will be appreciated. Any questions contact Blaine Porter at 681-368-1572.

*Open Heart Ministries of Bluefield, WV, will serve spaghetti dinners Friday, July 8th, from 11am-3:30pm at its West Virginian Manor location, 415 Federal Street, downtown Bluefield, WV. Proceeds are dedicated to Open Heart Ministries’ homeless havens. Dinners include spaghetti and meat sauce, side salad, garlic bread, dessert and a cold drink. An $8 donation is requested. Orders can be made at 304-323-2551. Local delivery is available. Graced by God, Open Heart Ministries is a Christian-based, non-profit community alliance dedicated to assisting temporarily homeless people, irrespective of age, color, race, or religious affiliation.

*Come and have fun at 'Kid Day' in Iaeger, WV on Saturday, July 23rd from 10am-8pm!  There will be games, food, face painting and a movie to be shown at night.  All proceeds will benefit a new handicap playground for the kids in Iaeger.

*Come on out to support the Unified Graham Chargers!  We are a youth football and cheer league that provides free registration to youth of Mercer and Tazewell County!  We are currently working on raising the funds to make sure we have the uniforms and equipment required to make sure that everyone has a great and safe season!  So please come out for some delicious Chic-fil-A for dinner! A percentage of all sales will be going right back into your community to help kids get to play football or to be a cheerleader!!  We will be at the Chic-fil-A in Mercer Mall on Thursday July 28th from 5pm-8pm.

*Prospective college students are invited to visit Bluefield College as part of Virginia Private College Week, Monday, July 25th through Saturday, July 30th. Bluefield College is one of 24 colleges who make up the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV) and who will be participating in Virginia Private College Week, a statewide college open house series, featuring two daily programs for rising juniors, seniors and prospective transfer students. The open house sessions at Bluefield College will be held Monday through Friday, July 25th-29th at 9am and 2pm and Saturday, July 30th at 9am. Each session will include campus tours and information sessions on admissions, financial aid, academics, and extracurricular programs. To register, call 800-872-0176.

*The 13th Annual Culturefest World Music & Arts Festival is September 8th-11th at the Appalachian South Folklife Center in Pipestem, WV. Come enjoy a weekend long immersion in the creative arts featuring 4 stages of music and dance performances, workshops, artisan vendors, healing arts, kids activities including a costume parade, camping and much more on a beautiful mountaintop in Southern West Virginia. *The Mercer County Animal Shelter, in conjunction with the Mercer County Commission and the Mercer County Humane Society, are beginning efforts to renovate the shelter to incorporate a spay/neuter clinic.  The goal will be accomplished with fundraising events, grants, corporate and private donations.  The Mercer County Spay/Neuter Clinic will provide low cost spay/neuter for the residents of Mercer County upon completion.  An immediate goal of $10,000 will be matched by the Mercer County Humane Society to help make the dream a reality.  Contact us to find out how you can help contribute by assisting with fundraisers!  Donations can be made at the shelter or online at https://www.gofundme.com/krqrcf9g
