*The works of Bluefield College art students will be on display during a Spring Student Art Show on campus, April 13th-30th.  Open and free to the public, the Spring Student Art Show will run from 8am-6pm on weekdays in the BC Art Gallery on the first floor of Lansdell Hall.

*Bluefield College will unveil the 22nd edition of its Bluestone Review during a public reading and reception, Thursday, April 16th at 7pm in BC’s Student Activities Center in Shott Hall​. *Sun Valley Ruritan will have a Ramp Dinner on Saturday, April 25th from 4pm-7pm, at the club building at Lerona, Rt. 20, 6 miles North of Athens. Adults $10, children $5 and children under the age of 6, are FREE with an adult.

1st Official Lil G day is Saturday, May 2nd at Jack Asbury Square in Bluefield, VA from 10am-3pm.  Bake sale, vendors, silent auction, yard sale and more. Vendor setup fee $30.  Yardsale fee $10. Money due April 17. *The Nemours Ruritan Club will be hosting an "All-You-Can-Eat" Pancake Breakfast and Flea Market on Saturday, May 2nd from 7am-11am.  Adults meals are $5.00; children under 12 is $3.00.  50/50 Tickets will also be available.  This event will take place at the Nemours Ruritan Community Center.


*Women from Appalachia who haven’t had access to higher education or whose circumstances have left them in poverty or some other financial or personal predicament now have hope for a new beginning, thanks to the New Opportunity School for Women at Bluefield College.  Applications are being accepted now for the 2015 session, May 10th-30th.   For more information please call 304-887-7738 or email clpalmer@bluefield.edu.

*On June 20th, West Virginia celebrates the anniversary of the creation of West Virginia as the 35th state. Jump Start, a volunteer group bringing new life to downtown Princeton, is sponsoring the celebration of West Virginia Day in the Dick Copeland Town Square from 2pm-8pm.  Music will be provided by Valley Bluegrass and Barry Bowman.  Re-enactors, Phoebe Belcher Clay, the first settler of West Virginia, Arthur Boreman, the first governor of West Virginia and a coal miner giving the history of the life of a West Virginia coal miner will be speaking.  The WVU Mountaineer Mascot will be in attendance. Food will be available by Nona’s Italian Kitchen and the Mercer County Historical Society with free cupcakes at Almost Heaven Bakery. A book signing will be held at Dayfly bookstore. Come join in the fun and celebrate West Virginia. Games and prizes for children. Vendors welcome, call 304-425-6189 for more info.
