*Open Heart Ministries, serving the needs of area homeless, will hold a fundraising car wash Saturday, August 23rd, at the Advance Auto Parts store at 3160 East Cumberland Road in Bluefield, WV.  Open Heart Ministries volunteers will wash cars and trucks from 10am-4pm with supplies furnished free of charge to the ministry by Advance Auto Parts.

*Come out for the "Celebration of 75 years of Batman in Princeton WV" on Saturday, August 23rd at the Dick Copeland Park in Princeton WV.  It's a cross between a comic book convention and a street fair.  It starts at 1pm, and when it gets dark (approximately 8pm) the Princeton Public Library will present two Batman movies in the Dick Copeland Park: "Batman" (1989), and "The Dark Knight".

Center for Christian Action BACK TO SCHOOL BASH on Saturday, August 30th from 5pm-10pm at Laurel Meadow Park in Pocahontas, VA.  Concessions, baked goods, face painting, grab bags, dunking booth, games, 50/50 split, flea market ($10 per space, call 276-945-5355 to reserve yours, no food please) and a Dance from 6pm–10pm...come join the fun!

*Plum Creek Quilters will be having a Community Yard Sale on Monday, September 1st from 8am-3pm at Thompson Valley Community Center in Tazewell, VA...everyone is welcome to set up and sell your items for FREE!  Bring your own tables, tents and chairs.  Contact Tammy Allison to reserve your spot at 276-200-4179.

Church yard sale at Pisgah United Methodist Church in Tazewell, VA located directly across from the Crab Orchard Museum on Monday, September 1st (Labor Day) beginning at 7pm. Lots of items!

*Mercer County Heritage Festival, September 5th-7th. Glenwood 4-H Camp.  A living history festival with storytellers, demonstrations, artisans, reenactors, vendors, civil war era ball, music, and great food. Friday, the 5th is Education Day. The festival continues through the weekend with presentation by Cornstalk, Harriett Tubman, Robert E Lee.  Fun for all!

 Origami Owl Fall Launch Party on Saturday, September 6th from 11am-1pm at the Mercer Mall Laser One Party Room!  Come on in and see the new fall line for Origami Owl. FREE TAX COURSE!  Are you interested in expanding your knowledge of income tax preparation and have the possibility for employment?  Liberty Tax Service is starting registrations for their fall tax course now.  Seats are limited, please register early to ensure availability.  The course will begin September 8th and will run for 10 weeks; 5pm-9pm at the Princeton campus of American National University, located beside Princeton Walmart.  To register, please contact Keith Cole, General Manager, at 304-431-2378.
