*Open Heart Ministries of Bluefield, WV will serve spaghetti dinners Friday, May 6th, from 11am-3:30pm at its West Virginian Manor location, 415 Federal Street, downtown Bluefield, WV. Proceeds are dedicated to Open Heart Ministries’ homeless havens. Dinners include spaghetti and meat sauce, side salad, garlic bread, dessert and cold drink. A $7 donation is requested. Orders can be made at 304-323-2551. Local delivery is available.

*Bluefield Area Little League will be hosting a Bingo Bash on Saturday, May 7th, with doors opening at 5pm and Bingo starting at 6pm at the Bluefield Parks and Recreation Center.  The event has lots of prizes, raffles, concessions and FUN!  Admission will be $20.00 for 20 games and the Coverall, with extra cards available for $5.00 each.  Additional Coveralls will also be available for $5.00.  All proceeds will benefit Bluefield Area Little League.  For more information contact Susan Harmon at 304-952-3811 or Ivy Thomas at 304-320-6974.

*Bluefield Youth Theatre at Bluefield College will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr., Thursday through Sunday, May 12th-14th at 7:30pm and Sunday, May 15th at 3pm in BC’s Harman Chapel. *Recovery Point Four Seasons in Bluefield will be hosting its first major community fundraising event on May 12th. The fundraiser will be held at Cornerstone Family Church in Princeton, WV beginning at 6:30pm. The event will be a Spaghetti Dinner including spaghetti, garlic bread, dessert, salad and a drink. Tickets are $8 and space is limited. Funds raised will go toward the expansion of Recovery Point Four Seasons as we continue to serve men in their efforts facing drug and alcohol addiction. *Tickets for Open Heart Ministries’ Distinguished Community Service Awards recognition dinner are obtainable at the ministry’s offices at 415 Federal Street, Bluefield, WV, or at 304-323-2551. A $25 donation is requested for a dinner ticket, proceeds going toward Open Heart Ministries’ shelters for the homeless. The second annual awards dinner will be May 21st at 6pm at Bluefield College. Dr. David Olive, president of Bluefield College, is the special guest speaker.

*The 13th Annual Culturefest World Music & Arts Festival is September 8th-11th at the Appalachian South Folklife Center in Pipestem, WV. Come enjoy a weekend long immersion in the creative arts featuring 4 stages of music and dance performances, workshops, artisan vendors, healing arts, kids activities including a costume parade, camping and much more on a beautiful mountaintop in Southern West Virginia. *The Mercer County Animal Shelter, in conjunction with the Mercer County Commission and the Mercer County Humane Society, are beginning efforts to renovate the shelter to incorporate a spay/neuter clinic.  The goal will be accomplished with fundraising events, grants, corporate and private donations.  The Mercer County Spay/Neuter Clinic will provide low cost spay/neuter for the residents of Mercer County upon completion.  An immediate goal of $10,000 will be matched by the Mercer County Humane Society to help make the dream a reality.  Contact us to find out how you can help contribute by assisting with fundraisers!  Donations can be made at the shelter or online at
